Raven Plume Founder Larry Stuart, Jr. will present What Really Goes on Inside the Crematory?
Navigating the Misconceptions—Educating the Public and the Rule Makers
Start off at the Gravedigger's Classic Golf Tournament on Sunday morning, continue the fun joining in on the cocktail receptions, meals, exhibitors, speaklers, educational sessions, and more culminating with the closing speaker Larry Stuart, Jr.
With The US Cremation rate at 59% and rising, there is no doubt that cremation is now the preferred disposition method when someone does. Although the majority of the public prefer cremation, they want nothing to do with it until the time comes, and understandingly, even less to do with contemplating how the process actually works.
There are myths, misconceptions, and even some gruesome ideas in the minds of the public when it comes to cremation, It’s no wonder; the way cremation is depicted in books, movies, in the main stream media and especially in social media only perpetuates the negative and the only way to dispel these untruths is for us, as a profession, to become cremation experts. We need to know exactly how and why the equipment is designed and works the way it does even if we don't actually operatore the equipment.
We need to be able to explain exactly why cremation isn’t expelling dangerous pollution (or burning flesh) into the atmosphere.
After attending this one hour session, attendees will be able to—
‣ Define cremation, combustion, rate of combustion, and recognize their importance in an
effective and efficient cremation process
‣ Identify the parts of the cremation equipment and discuss their functions
‣ Demonstrate how modern cremation equipment assures a process virtually free of hazardous
emissions and differentiate between other types of equipment that may not be as
environmentally friendly
‣ Compare cremation to similar types of technology that have been in operation in close
proximity to the lives and activities of any community and establish the stigma involved in the
perception surrounding cremation
‣ Defend cremation as a scientifically sound, proven technology that holds no danger to the
public, even when operating in close vicinity to residential areas.
‣ Formulate a narrative conducive to promoting a true and irrefutable perception of cremation
operations in the eyes of the public.
